Lane Peak (6012’), Mount Rainier National Park

Lane Peak (6012') is on the Mountaineers "100 Peaks in Mt Rainier National Park" list, described as a difficult scramble. On October 5th, 2022, the weather was superb and the Tatoosh Range did not disappoint. Once I left the Pinnacle Peak "end of maintained trail" sign at the saddle I had the day to myself until regaining this same spot later in the afternoon. To attain the summit of Lane one must climb a prominent gully before hanging a left to the summit. I attached a GoPro Max 360 camera to my helmet to try and capture the essence of this scramble. Although somewhat steep, there are plentiful handholds and minimal exposure. A complete version of this climb is available in the “off trail” pulldown.
