Governors Ridge (6614')
On October 8, 2026, I capped off 6 days of glorious weather in Mt. Rainier National Park with a climb of Governors Ridge, bringing my total to 83 on the Mountaineers Mt. Rainier 100 Peaks list. This is described as a “difficult scramble” in the guide but I found it presented no particular problems. The approach is short on the lovely Owyhigh Lakes trail (starting at the White River area) and the off trail travel is what one would expect; wooded in the beginning and opening up as one approaches the saddle between the ridge and Barrier Peak. There are some sections of scree which present slidey ground underfoot. I referenced a track on CalTopo which helps tremendously, as determining where the actual peak is can be confusing with no visual references. Filmed in 4K (8K 360 video), run time 34 minutes.
