Rainier and the Tatoosh Range from Dixon Mountain summit (5134’)

Dixon Mountain (5134')

August 11, 2026 by Willis Wall

Dixon Mountain is on the “100 Peaks at Mt. Rainier National Park” list by the Mountaineers, despite not being in the confines of the park. I guess the qualifier is “at” vice “in” to justify coming up with 100 in the list. Same with the Bearheads. Anyway, I elected to bike from Longmire to the spur road jump off point on FS 5260 via Skate Creek Road since I had my van. This is a fairly benign scramble with pretty good trail/track most of the way. The summit is open and offers good views. Filmed in 4K, run time 12 minutes.
